Residence of John Hare Powel

In the 1830s and 1840s, John Hare Powell, the adopted nephew of Elizabeth Willing Powel and her heir, transformed the original Powel mansion into an enormous Greek Revival Palace, which he sold to the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1851.
